    - Network Redundancy Improvements -

    We have again expanded our bandwidth capacity and are now peering
    with AT&T, XO, Global Crossing, Level 3, and ELI. Multiple Gigabyte
    Ethernet connections and multiple OC-3 lines to our data center
    ensure the highest availability possible for each of our clients.

    - Server Upgrades -

    We recently finished a substantial upgrade of our VPS hosting platform
    on all servers. The upgrade provides a number of bug and security
    fixes, and is something we have been working towards for months.

    What We Are Working On

    - IMAP E-mail -

    IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol for accessing
    e-mail from your local server. It is also a protocol in which e-mail
    is received and held for you on your Virtual Private Server. You (or
    your e-mail client) can view just the heading and the sender of the
    letter and then decide whether to download the mail. All your mail
    stays on the server in multiple folders, some of which you have
    created. This enables you to connect to your mail server from any
    computer and see all your mail and mail folders. In general, IMAP is
    great if you have a dedicated connection to the Internet or you like
    to check your mail from various locations.

    IMAP will be released in the coming weeks and will be in addition to
    POP3 (Post Office Protocol) Mail, which is already supported at
    WestHost. With POP3, you have one mail folder on the server. When you
    open your mailbox, new e-mail is moved from your WestHost mail server
    and saved on your computer. If you want to be able to see your old
    e-mail messages, you have to go back to the computer where you last
    opened your mail, or configure your e-mail client (e.g. Outlook) to
    "Leave a copy of the messages on the server". With POP3 e-mail, you
    do not have to stay logged on to the Internet. Once your new e-mail
    has been downloaded to your computer you can log off to read it.

    Why choose IMAP rather than POP3 with "leave mail on server"? When
    "leaving mail on server" with POP3 only your e-mail messages are on
    the server. With IMAP your e-mail folders are also on the server.

    - Reseller Manager Upgrade -

    Due out in October. this substantial upgrade to the interface and
    architecture of Reseller Manager will not only improve its
    usability, but more importantly, will play a significant role in
    improving the speed of Site Manager. Stay tuned for updates in the
    coming weeks.


    - phpBB Version 2.0.21 -

    phpBB version 2.0.21 will be released shortly. phpBB is the world's
    leading Open Source flat style discussion forum (message board)
    software. It is high-powered, fully scalable, and highly
    customizable. It allows your site visitors to communicate openly by
    posting new topics, replying to existing ones and more. phpBB hosting
    is that much easier at WestHost with auto-installation and version
    updates. It requires the installation of MySQL and Mod_Php, and can
    be installed from within the Site Applications section of your
    control panel (Site Manager).

    - Uebimiau Version 2.7.10 -

    Uebimiau version 2.7.10 is just around the corner. Although hard to
    spell, it is a great web mail application. With it you can view your
    mail directly on your mail server from any computer with Internet
