Default Miva Merchant Shopping Cart Down

I just wanted to give other users of WestHost a heads up of changes that were made to our accounts that you may not know about.

Last week I discovered that WestHost changed the way that Miva Merchant works. They changed the location of Miva Merchant from .../cgi-bin/Merchant2/... to just .../Merchant2/... I'm not sure about other people using Miva Merchant, but I was never notified of this change. I didn't discover it until I tried logging into the Miva Administrator pages.

When you log in to Miva Administrator using the old cgi-bin path the screen loads with three frames all asking you to log-in again. I put in a trouble ticket to WestHost. They informed me that they changed the location, and that I needed to change all my paths to reflect this. (Thanks for the Heads Up)

After spending a day fixing my site to reflect WestHost's changes. I thought my site was working again. Today, a week later, I tried placing an order using Test Mode. I received the following error...

Unable to authorize payment: Unable to connect to
    'https://secure.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll': Unable to load 'libssl.so':
libssl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So, I realized that my site has been down for over a week now. Furthermore, when you change the path to log-in to Miva Administrator using WestHost's new path you will be pleasantly suprised to see that the administrator screens are no longer secure.

So, you may want to check your sites if you use Miva Merchant. And, you may want to tell WestHost that we demand better service than this!

    Hello,

We actually did not move the location of any Miva Merchant directorys. From the error that you are getting it sounds like you may have some of the wrong directories specified. Try out the following directory paths:

    URL to Miva Merchant:
    http://www.zestgourmet.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?

    Root Directory for Modules:
    /Merchant2/

    Base Url for Graphics:
    http://www.zestgourmet.com/Merchant2/

    Root Directory for Graphics:
    /Merchant2/

    Secure Server Settings
    Secure URL to Miva Merchant:
    https://ssl4.westserver.net/zestgour.../merchant.mvc?

Secure URL to Miva Merchant Administration:
    https://ssl4.westserver.net/cgi-bin/...nt2/admin.mvc+

    Secure Root Directory for Modules:
    /zestgourmet/Merchant2/

    Secure Base Url for Graphics:
    https://ssl4.westserver.net/zestgourmet/Merchant2/

Good luck with this and let me know if this works for you.

    Hello,

    Something must have changed.

I was having the same 3-frame secure admin login problem last week and was told to change my 'secure url to admin' from:
    secure.westserver.net...
    to:
    ssl4.westserver.net...

Which fixed the problem nicely, but now I'm confused.

When I set up this account initially all secure base URLs went to:
    https://secure.westserver.net...

Now I notice that you've instructed zestgourmet to set all of theirs to:
    https://ssl4.westserver.net...

Meanwhile, the Westhost Manual still says to use:
    https://secure.westserver.net...
    See http://manual.westhost.com/part9.html#miva-settings

Should we all be switching our secure URLs to ssl4? If so, will there be an announcement? Is this just a way to utilize the "shared ssl" implementation?

    Thanks,
    Manny

    Manny,

I'm a little confused as to what the problem that you’re having is. If you give me more details about it I would be more than happy to help you out.

As far as the reason why we have more than one secure server is simply efficiency and speed for our clients. We finely tune all of our servers to be running at a certain level and as soon as they drop below those levels we add new ones to increase speed. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

    Michael,

Sorry. Didn't mean to imply that I was having a problem. The secure login problem that I was having was fixed by switching to the ssl4.westserver.net server.

I was just wondering about the individual 'ssl4.westserver.net' and 'secure.westserver.net' URLs. I didn't realize that you had more than one dedicated to the same task(s) -- if I understand correctly. Are there others we can currently access?

Is there any way you can explain why the secure login through 'secure.westserver.net' stopped working for me?

Thanks. I'm trying to learn this stuff.

    Cheers,
    Manny

    Manny,

No problem, this is what we are here for . There are other secure servers that you would be able to access but I wouldn't worry about it. All of our servers are constantly monitored and if any of them are going slower then we change something to fix it. So the current server that you are on is going to run just as fast for you as any other server would run.

As far as why your account stopped working on secure.westserver.net is because that server is mainly for our 1.0 accounts and your account was moved to a 2.0 account. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
