    Default mysql privileges ?????

i just now tried to setup privileges from mysql... i was being able to access EVERYTHING by simply starting the mysql client - without password or username... i then deleted all entries from the user table and used GRANT blah blah to grant ALL privileges to "root" and "username" (username is the username i want to use) on *.*. root was granted "grant option" and could access ONLY from localhost while "username" did NOT have grant option while could access from localhost as well as from anywhere else ("%").

Now I flushed the privileges too (even though it should not be required). However even THEN when I tried to login with a password and username it allows me to - and it allows me to view all databases etc etc.

    Don't know what's going on - ne ideas ??

I'm not familiar with this manual way of doing it, but if you need a graphical/more user friendly idea of what is going on here, you might want to install PhpMyAdmin via your Site Manager and then take a look in that...
