    Default changes in access logs???

Has Westhost (or someone/thing else) changed the way events are listed in the access log?

Up until a day or two ago, nearly all my logs listed IPs as follows (I am only showing the IP part of the listing; of curse each had other info, such as request method, user agent etc.):
    66.249.67.18
    65.52.108.198
    100.43.83.145
    etc.

with very few coming in listed in other formats.

Now, nearly half are being listed as:
    crawl-66-249-67-18.googlebot.com
    msnbot-65-52-108-198.search.msn.com
    spider-100-43-83-145.yandex.com
    etc.

    What's changed?

I just checked several accounts and all are still listing the IP's not the domains. I was looking at the raw logs. Are you doing the same or looking at them through a statistics program? I checked both older Site Manager and newer cPanel accounts. Have you contacted WestHost about this via a support ticket?

yes, I am looking at the raw logs in var/log/httpd/access_log. I view them using the view command in WS_ftp (as I hae been doing for some time now).

I will submit a support request to WestHost- thanks for the suggestion.

Problem solved. The cause of the change was my error and resulted from a seemingly innocuous change I made in my .htaccess file. I forgot to put a carriage return (start new line) before a "deny from".
