    Default Database Name

I installed MySQL through the WH site manager. A program I am installing is asking for the User name and database name. Of course, I entered a password during the MySQL installation. Are the User name and database name created with a default?

With the older WestHost Site Manager accounts the password you entered when you installed MySql is for user "root". While you can use that user/password combination to connect a new program to MySQL I would suggest not doing that.

Go ahead and install phpMyAdmin on the account. Once you have done that log into phpMyAdmin (you have to enter the username/password combo that you use for SiteManager) and create database to use for your new program. Then create a user with a new password and give it permissions to access that specific database that you created. To create a new user go to "Privileges" and click "Add a new User". Don't give it Global Privlages, give it Database-specific privileges for the database you just created. Actually if you want to create the user and the database in one step you can do it when you create the user. You'll see the option for this under "Database for user". That may be the quicker easier route for you.
