I have several "catagories" of products. One particular vendor does not allow selling products online, but you can advertise that you carry the product... so my question is...the default for the catagory view (in thumbnail mode and then bigger when you click on a specific thumbnail) is to have buy now button next to the item...is there a way to not have the button display just for this particular vendor??

If I go to the code under pages where I see the buttons...that will change all of the products right? not just this one that I don't want buttons.

thank you for your help!

I bet rispku will be able to give you specifics but isn't there a way to set the quantity available of an item when you enter it? If you set that to 0 would it perhaps not show the buy now button? If that worked it might not be the best option but would perhaps give you something to work with.

I wonder if since you can not sell them on-line if it would be better to not have them part of your Miva system. Perhaps you could create a page that had this line of products that would explain that they are not available on-line but that you do carry them in your physical store. Your users might be confused if they are part of Miva even if you can keep the buy button from showing and this would make things clearer to them.

Joker is on the right track here. If you edit the product after you've added it, you will be given the option to override the inventory settings. If you set the product's inventory to zero, it won't display the buy now and add to cart buttons. You can even override the messages it displays for products that are out of stock. Manual page for inventory level settings. (http://docs.smallbusiness.miva.com/en-US/merchant/5/webhelp/inventory_level_settings_and_notifications.htm)

If I go to the code under pages where I see the buttons...that will change all of the products right? not just this one that I don't want buttons. That's right. You can, however, get a module that will let you assign different templates to each of your categories. There are several available for MM5: Category Template Manager (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?store_code=m&screen=PROD&product_code=SS-CTGYTEMPLATES5), Category Manager (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?store_code=m&screen=PROD&product_code=WCW-CATMAN5), Category Master (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?store_code=m&screen=PROD&product_code=STL-CATMASTER).
