I'm using the Image Pro Miva module to allow several photos of each product. They have to be coded in a simple way when uploading--without descriptive words to match my product i.d. number (like: WGarG-1220) versus using the word "garnet."

Is there some way/someplace I can also add an alt tag description to each photo so that the search engines will pick that up?

I have Dreamweaver & Fireworks if that helps find a solution??
Many thanks,

You would need something like this to be able to get at the code that generates your product pages: Product Page Templates (http://www.vikingcoders.com/store/merchant.mv?Category_Code=LOOKMODS&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BROK_PRODTEMPLATES)

You could then add an alt element to the image tag and then use an OUI token to append the name of the product to it.

To be honest, that's really much ado about nothing. I don't think adding redundant data to your image's alt tag will really make a difference with your search engine listing. You've already got the product name in the page title and in bold at the top of the page, and have decent enough descriptions for every product. Instead of tinkering with the alt tags, you may want to investigate some of the search engine optimization modules for mm4. Here are a couple that look promising:

Hi, Rispku:
Thank you for the info and links. I took a quick look, but need to go back and read up on those modules. We don't seem to get notices about new modules from Miva anymore. I think they used to send out announcements, but I haven't seen any lately. I wish they'd also send out notices when upgrades become available to existing modules.

I think (hope) the SEs can pick up the content information in product descripritions in Miva catalogue pages. I've also been submitting product feeds to Froogle, so every item is being inventoried that way--I'm sure that helps.
Thank you kindly for your help,
