I am adding a second domain to my VPS. I will use Joomla on both and a BB on one.

Is it better to set up as:

Site 1: var/www/html

Site 2: var/www/html2

or simply put the added site into a subdirectory of the 1st?

TIA...mm

if you make the second site be a subdirectory of the first then the whole second site will be reachable through the first domain as well. you probably don't want that.

I have several domains under my primary and use /var/www/vhosts/<domain>/

It seems to work out pretty good. I am also figureing out how to seperate the log files so I can keep seperate stats. I might make a How-To after I get it working correctly.

I normally place my second domains somplace outside of the main domains root www. Do be aware that when you do this that you may have to manipulate httpd.conf to get some functions you have available in the main domain. i.e you may have to set up a seperate cgi-bin or in the case of Joomla you may want to add the rewrite rules.

It really does not matter where you put them but I like sphariss thoughts on organization of them... makes sense.
