The Opera web browser, which had previously been free but with banner ads, and from which one could remove the ad banner for a fee, is now free:
http://www.opera.com/ - main site
http://www.opera.com/products/desktop/ - features, win, mac, linux
http://www.opera.com/security/ - security

For those wondering about security, Secunia reports no vulnerabilites at this time. See this:
http://secunia.com/product/4932/

Opera has fixed the security holes found in v7.5, as reported here:
http://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3391221
and here:
http://www.greymagic.com/security/advisories/gm008-op/

Those users with version 7.5 and below, should have upgraded to v8.01, and later to 8.02 - both ad-supported. See:
http://informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=164900353

To migrate from Opera 7 to Opera 8, see here:
http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=791

Now there is version 8.5, which includes those security patches, and which is now free of ads and free to download.

Edit:
For an explanation of why it is now free and what this is expected to do to the Norwegian stock:
