Hi guys,

I'm trying to hack my webalizer.conf to resolve IP numbers into readable names. To do it, I use the GroupSite and HideSite feature (for those who are not familiar with Webalizer, a "site" is any Internet host who's visiting your site).

A quick example (IP numbers are totally invented here!):

GroupSite 194.193.126.88 Acme Co.
HideSite 194.193.126.88

...will make any visit from Acme Co. appear into the "Sites" list in a readable format instead of bare IP numbers.

Now, the problem is that most companies use a bunch of IP numbers, tipically in groups of 8. Let's assume, for example, that Acme Co. used the following IP class: 194.193.126.88 to 194.193.126.95. In the webalizer.conf I would write

GroupSite 194.193.126.88 Acme Co.
HideSite 194.193.126.88
GroupSite 194.193.126.89 Acme Co.
HideSite 194.193.126.89
GroupSite 194.193.126.90 Acme Co.
HideSite 194.193.126.90
...

and so on. Multiply the above work for tens of IP groups and you'll end up with an unmanageable amount of work.

I already use wildcards like

GroupSite 150.120.* Acme Europe Corp.
HideSite 150.120.*

but most IP groups are small sets (like in the first example) where you cannot apply that sort of wildcards.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Corrado

You can also use domain names.

GroupSite *.aol.com
GroupSite *.compuserve.com
