Hi all,

as many of you probably know, now that MySQL is being upgraded to version 4.1.x, we can make use of the Query Cache feature.

When in use, the query cache stores in RAM the text of a SELECT query together with the corresponding result that was sent to the client. If the same query is received later, the server retrieves the results from the query cache rather than parsing and executing the query again, thus giving better performance.

Obviously, a larger cache means better performance but more RAM occupation.

My question is: how many MB of RAM could we safely allocate to MySQL cache on a WH VPS?

My goal is to make a fair use of that feature, i.e. decrease CPU load without eating up too much memory.

Any advice also from WH tech staff is appreciated!

Thanks,
Corrado
