Hello all-

I'm trying to configure osCommerce to work properly with westhost's shared SSL server. I noticed this quote by gbanse on the "Shopping Carts 101 - A basic primer" thread while searching for a solution.

WestHost offers a generic SSL Certificate but be careful of these. Not all shopping cart scripts can work with shared certificates.
My problem is that the images on my secure SSL pages are being called from my own http domain. This unsecured content keeps the padlock icon from displaying on the user's browser. I am using relative links for the images. I've been assuming that the problem is a misconfigured configure.php file but now I wonder if that's the case.

I found a temporary workaround here

http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.php?showtopic=27723&st=0&

but now all of my store pages and images are being called through https://ssl4.westhost.net which slows the pages down considerably.

Does anyone around here have osCommerce working on a westhost server using the shared SSL server? If so, would you be willing to post your configure.php files here for reference (database info deleted of course)?

I'll post mine here if anyone is familiar with osCommerce.

Thanks for your help.

Hi I have the same issue

I followed the links you gave and now I have all image going through https://ssl4.westhost.net but not the pages - unless they are meant to go through the https.

I did this by changing /includes/application_top.php line 40 ish to look like this

// set the type of request (secure or not)
// $request_type = (getenv('HTTPS') == 'on') ? 'SSL' : 'NONSSL';
$request_type = (eregi ($HTTP_HOST, HTTPS_SERVER)) ? 'NONSSL' : 'SSL';

did you find a work around for this - as going through the https does slow down the site?

Cheers
Rob

Sorry <-- R O B -->, I'm still looking for a solution. I plan to install my own certificate eventually with the hope that that will take care of the problem. It would be nice to know if anyone has OsCommerce running on their WH site with no SSL issues.

And the shared SSL is really slow. I have everything routed through the shared server because if I don't my stylesheet loads a few seconds after my html pages and things look very odd for a moment.
