We're using ATPmail web mail client (excellent program for those willing to pay) and have one slight problem.

We can't send mail between users on the same domain. We need to do this since users log in from outside the office and need to forward info to each other.

This is a copy of the bounced message (names changed to protect the innocent). The sender was 'zebras' and the recipient was 'test':

From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON@mydomain.com>
Subject: Returned mail: see transcript for details
Attached:
To: postmaster@mydomain.comzebras@mydomain.com
add addresses

The original message was received at Sun, 14 Dec 2003 08:31:07 -0700
from root@localhost

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
test@localhost.com
"|/etc/virt_users/test/.autoreplay.sh"
(expanded from: test@localhost.com)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 5.3.0 forward: no home
554 5.3.0 forward: no home

I can't tell if it's sendmail or procmail doing the refusing nor where to look to fix this. Any ideas?

The 'no home' message look like it comes from sendmail and usually means that sendmail is looking for the home directory of the recipient.

This happens when you create an email account and you haven't created it with FTP ability. Its the FTP part that creates the home directory (you can turn it back off straight away, the directory stays). I would say that it is a bug in the Site Manager to do it this way but thats the way it is. Try creating a home directory at /ftp/pub/username and see if that helps.

Jalal, you are a godsend! Yes, that worked. Turned on FTP for the users and then turned it back off and it works finally.

Thanks for your help.!
