The user ftp control panel is nice "domain.com/users". But I wish that I could further limit the control panel and simply have my clients login (user name and password), and then go directly to the ftp client. I don't want them to have email or be able to change passswords. Streamlining the process like this would make the ftp process for many people much easier.

Try sending them to "domain.com/fm/" :) Give it a try and see what happens and if that was what you where wanting. It is a direct path to the File Manager. They still have to use there username and password.

I tried to log in to the /fm location with the same name and password that I setup in the ftp section of the main control panel but it doesn't recognize the name or password as it does at the domain.com/users location. At the domain.com/fm login what am I logging into?

To clarify, I would like to send my clients to a login page and after passing the login send them directly to the ftp client app that is available through the domain.com/users control panel. This would bypass the control panel, email functions and password control.

Thanks,

J

You might want to try a WWW FTP Client. I have used the one found at http://www.mywebftp.com/ Hope that helps.

Sorry I missunderstood what you where doing. Kris is correct the best solution would be to have them use a standalone FTP Client. There are some scripts out there that you could use but would take some modification. Here is one product called AdminPro. It is shareware so you would need to check the agreement depending on how you wish to use it. http://www.craigrichards.com/software/ They do have Multi-User and Site Licensing.

I found another script that may be more what you are looking for it is a shareware version for $38 http://www.xav.com/scripts/genesis/

Do you know of any scripts that are solely for the purpose of depositing and retrieving files? The WH "users" control panel is perfect except for the email/ password options. I only need the ftp folder to function as a container for files to be transferred. I'm really looking for the simplest solution for my clients with firewalls or email limits to send and receive larger files.

Could the login script at domain.com/users be adapted to go directly to the ftp client? Where is this script located? This might be the best solution.

thanks again.
