View Full Version : Deleteing files

I want to clean out some junk (an old Ikonboard I'm not using) from my site. But my FTP program (WSFTP LE) will not let me delete a directory unless it is empty, and Iknonboard has a lot of files and directorys. I would like to delete a directory and it's contents.
Is there a FTP program that will do this?

Apparently, WS FTP Pro will do recursive deletes of directorys.
But, it aint free like WS FTP LE.
Can anyone suggest a free FTP program that will do that?

Are you absolutely sure WS FTP LE won't let you do that? I am pretty sure it is an option hidden somewhere that you have to enable ("allow deletion of non-empty directories"). I doubt such an essential feature would be left out of WS FTP.

If I had to recommend another program, I'd recommend SmartFTP - http://www.smartftp.com/ It works very well and seems more "up-to-date" and Windows-like than WS FTP (last I checked it was free too).

I think he is right design64. I have pro now and have for a long while I bought the program because the lite did seem to leave things out that seemed essential. It also may be hidden I know even in the pro I have to really hunt sometimes to find a feature. I still like the program alot and would even recomend buying it if you can afford it. I think it is up to around $50 now which considering the cost of some of my other programs is pretty good.

Im using ACE ftp 3 freeware, it seems to delete folders and it's contents too. They keep asking me to upgrade my software, Helllllll no, I'm sure that will mess things up and they will want me to pay. heee heee heee.

BTW, I've had problems deleting files off of the FTP site, when it had spaces at the beginning of the file name.

good luck. :o
