I was disappointed that the File Manager did not have a utility for password protecting directories like 1.0. I had to manually create the .htaccess and .htpasswd files.

I hope you will consider adding this function to the file manager. It was so easy to use.

That is bothering me too. I had a password protected directory on my old site and now need to add a few users. How did you do it?

(I know that the .htaccess file is there, but it doesn't show up in Site Manager.) Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'm reading and trying things out even as we speak. There are lots of options, so I'm sure I'll figure out something.

There is a tool under open source called htedit that is really nice. Are you very technical? If so you can download the tool from freshmeat.net
I am a user at westhost. this is a great tool

Go to Site Apps: Tools: WebPassword. This is the .htaccess editor that replaced the old (easier) one in v1.0 of the Control Panel.
