View Full Version : Pre-Sales Question

I have several questions regarding the "value" hosting package, hope that you can help.

1. The 500MB space - is this the actual amount that a hosting customer can use? The reason that I ask this question is that I see some VDS hosting provider advertise 500MB space, but actually almost half of them are used by the OS of the VDS.

2. Given that we can do almost anything on a VDS account, is it possible for me to install exim + spamassassin on the VDS account, rather than use the sendmail or whatever that comes with the package?

3. How much system resourses are really allocated to each VDS? ie: memory, swap space...etc Also, is there a limit on the number of process that can be ran on the VDS account?

4. Your package details said that only one domain is allowed in the "Value" pachage. Since we can bring up our own apache on a VDS account, if I host the DNS on zoneedit, can we still set up a name based virtual host on the VDS and still host more than one domain? Will this require additionl payment for each domain?

Sorry for so many questions, thank for your help in advance.

Let me try to answer your questions:

1) About 15 to 20 MB of space is used for the default install. That's less than 5% of your space.

2) Because of the independence of each VDS, you can install your own apps without any threat to any other VDS. However, we can not provide any support in doing so.

3) System resources are allocated dynamically, no single VDS has X memory and X processor time allocated to it. Also though, no single account can use all of the memory/processor at any given time.

4) If you manage the DNS externally, you could point another domain at your VDS. We don't have a mechanism to charge for that. You wouldn't be able to do it from within the VDS and Apache.

Hope this helps,
