Does anyone here publish their own e-mail newsletter to publish news concerning your website and what you do or products you offer?

Do you make regular use of the westhost thing for managing this list?

How do you do the plain text vs. html option? I subscribe to some newsletters via e-mail and they have this.

look forward to the input.

We have two different mailing list managers available. One comes pre-installed on every account, and the other is a free add-on that all you have to do is request it. The latter one is way more powerful and much easier to use and manage. You can learn more and request to have that one installed on your account by going to http://manual.westhost.com/part9.html#mail_list_manager.

You can do both plain text and HTML with the WestHost Mail List Manager. I send plain text mainly because there are still some people that set their e-mail boxes to filter out HTML messages.

I set up a small script with our WestHost mailing list which allowed users to sign up via a web form and confirm their subscription through a link in an email that's send immediately afterwards (so it's double opt-in).

Does WestHost Mailing List Manager allow visitors to subscribe like this?

Yes, it requires that when someone subscribes to your e-mail list that they confirm their subscription by clicking a link that is sent to the e-mail which was entered on the subcription form. So basically what DyalnW said :). It is pretty self running since they can sign up and also unsubscribe without you.
