Hi. Why is DadaMail being dropped from Westhost 4.0? Dada is a stable mailing list manager. My client relies on it weekly. I know they could switch to phplist, but they've been using Dada for years. Also, unless I'm mistaken, phplist will not handle bounces unless "safe mode" is set to OFF, (http://docs.phplist.com/PhpListConfigBounces) and everything I've ever read about PHP security says that this is a Bad Idea.

Additionally, PHP safe mode must be set to OFF, otherwise automatic bounce processing will not work.

But in the contemporary spam climate, not handling bounces is also a Bad Idea, as you increase the likelihood of being banned by servers.

I know 4.0 uses Scriptaculous, but it appears that version 4 supports Scriptaculous. (http://dadamailproject.com/support/boards/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1469&p=5641&hilit=scriptaculous#p5641)

So, is there any way to continue including DadaMail among your offerings?

Thanks,
bakersman

bakersman,

Just because they do not include a program for install via cPanel does not mean you can't install it manually and use it. :) http://dadamailproject.com/ There install instructions actually has a screen shot from cPanel showing how you find your home directory for the configs.

Hi wildjokerdesign,

You're correct that I can install it myself, but my question is why Westhost is dropping support for the program. I can install all kinds of things, but it makes a difference to some clients whether Westhost is supporting these apps or not. :)

While WestHost offers the install of many programs they do not really support any of them. Support for even the ones they offer for install is handled by the individual program developers on their sites.
