View Full Version : WordPress MU

I am endeavoring to enable a multi-user blog and so installed WordPress MU. It was quite a long process as there are requirements that are not documented in their installation directions. I wanted to share this information so that should you decide to install MU, you will not have the wasted hours and stress that missing key information can cause.

It turns out that there is a glitch that so many have encountered, there are presently 11, 800 related posts concerning it on the WordPress MU forums.

Once everything was installed, I was still unable to get images to appear correctly in posts, and, furthermore, if I clicked on "view" while editing a post, it generated a server error. After quite a bit of digging, I learned that there are 2 files which may need to be edited to get the software to work as intended. They include the http.conf and also .htaccess

Here are the links to the solutions which enabled me to have a working version of this software:

Now, having said that, it seems that if you want to have a clean interface that visitors can use to make posts, you need a plugin called TDO mini forms, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tdo-mini-forms/ which does not yet work with the MU (multi-user) version of WordPress. So, the MU version may work well if you want to host blogs, but if you want a polished multiuser individual blog, the usual WordPress with the TDO mini forms may be a better route to take.

Special thanks to the WestHost team for their tireless help.
