- How Do I Obtain My Own SSL Certificate? -

All WestHost hosting accounts include a free Shared SSL certificate. This Shared SSL certificate can easily be installed through your Site Manager. The shared SSL certificate that we use is just as secure as a privately owned SSL certificate; the only difference is that the shared SSL certificate address is not branded to your Web site. If you would prefer to have your own SSL certificate (https://www.yourdomain.com/), we can help you purchase and install a GeoTrust or RapidSSL certificate automatically. OpenSSL is a required application for those that wish to use their own SSL certificate issued from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA). This application requires a dedicated IP address. We believe that excellent authentications and verification procedures are absolutely essential in order to ensure trust on the Internet.
