View Full Version : Newbie - Wordpress backup before upgrade?

I think this might be an obvious question, I hope so because that's about all I can handle.

I want to upgrade the wordpress 2.0.7 to Wordpress 2.3.2. It tells me that to do so, I need to upgrade the PHP from 5.2.1 to PHP 5.2.5.

Ok, but when I start doing that, it tells me that I better back up any files that use PHP, such as wordpress, because if I upgrade it I will loose those files.

So - my ignorance is revealed. I can't figure out how to backup the wordpress php files?

I use Dreamweaver to create pages. Can I just download all the files in the wp folder to my desktop? would that do it?

Very simple instructions would be very very appreciated.

Backing up the folder is all you need to do. You may want to backup the database as well but i really doubt you'll run into any problems at all.

It worked and everything is ok.

I'm not techie, so I appreciate the direct help, (even if it was a stupid question).

Thanks again
