I am trying to consolidate passwords while protecting restricted access portions of my site. I have both PHP pages and directories with various documents that I need to password protect.

I would like to use the same password to access all restricted areas of the site, including phpBB2, file upload area/directories, etc.

I had mod_auth_mysql installed for me by Westhost Custom Services, but it only works with UNENCRYPTED passwords (AuthMyPwEncryption none). (I tried encrypting via md5 and scrambled AuthMyPwEncryption parameters).

I am running
mod_auth_mysql v. 3.0.0
Apache v. 1.3.27
MySQL 5 v. 5.0.27

any help or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

suprneener,

While this may not be exactly what you are looking for, you can set up password protection for directories using .htaccess files. If you reference the .htpasswd file in /usr/local/apache as the AuthUserFile in your .htaccess files, it will use your Site Manager username and password for the authentication. You can also use the WebPassword application available in your Site Manager to set up password protection on directories within your account.
