Default Web Site Speed Test

I had so many problems with server "Timeout" I decided to run a speed test on my sites and other WH sites using hostpulse.com. My sites shows 94ms response time. Joker's site also shows 94ms. Other site sites show times 40 -60 ms. What does this mean? I don't know! Have anyone else notice slow response time or run any tests. Does anyone have an ideas what is causing the slow speed problem. Thanks, CM

I woulf be except for the server timeouts using Neomail & Imagemagick. Do you think it could be caused by my dial-up service being so slow? If not, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks, CM

Just today, one of my sites is having a slow down on the server, for reasons unknown as yet. Mail is not getting delivered because "load average too high" on the server. But this is unusual.

There are a lot of factors in the speed of a connection. One thing you can try (if you are using Linux) is to run 'traceroute yourdomain.com' and that will give you the time taken for each hop on the way.

The time of 94ms that you see is pretty constant for most of the sites on Westhost and that is probably more of a measure of their Internet backbone connection/router speed/infrastructure than of the speed of the servers, which would be in the 2-5ms range I would guess.

If I do a trace route from here, the slowest links are either on my ISP's equipment or on some of the links on the E coast of america, which sometimes seem to get bogged down, especially early morning.

Some times this will happen. Due to dial up this will not happen. You can try this to check your website speed from http://www.iwebtool.com/speed_test & you can check your internet speed test from http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test/
