    Question May be forged message

Hello. I have written a php program using the mail() function. However when it is received it is marked in the header with "may be forged." I have no problems getting the email with one of my own email accounts not on the same server. But the real intended recipient is tossing it out as spam, although I can't be sure about that. I just know they say they aren't getting it. (It's not one of the web email providers like yahoo, etc.)

    Partial header is:

"Received: from design432.com (69.36.190.107.west-datacenter.net [69.36.190.107] (may be forged))
    by bbcmidessa.com (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id m9T1ec9v005810
    for <debi2006@bbcmidessa.com>; Tue, 28 Oct 2008 19:40:38 -0600"

Why does my email header get marked with the "may be forged" message? And how can I avoid that?

Do you have a dedicated IP for your account?

Thank you for the reply, Shawn.

No, I don't. Do you believe that will solve the problem with the "may be forged?"

Yes I believe it would be a start. As long as you are on a shared IP, that IP well not "track" back to your domain but to the WestHost domain. Another option if you don't want to do that is to put a note on your php page that sends these emails that your domain should be added to thier email programs safe list or to white list.
