Hi, I understand that this is a strange question to be asking a bunch of strangers on a webhosting board ... but I know there are really smart people here and I need major help......



If you were told to subtract D from C , what would you do?

would it be C-D or D-C ? I think its C-D

I am thinking it is just like if someone told you to subtract 4(d) from 12(c) .... you are taking 4(d) away from 12(c)... am I right?

and when you subtract the 4 from 12, you are left with 8... is that right?

So that would be 12(c) - 4(d) = 8 .... is that right?

So it would be C-D.... right?


If you take 4(d) eggs out of a carton of 12(c) you are left with 8 eggs right? or wrong?

d = 4
c= 12

so it is 12 - 4 = 8 which is c - d .....right? wrong?

Yes, I think you have it correct. If I was told to subtract D from C, I would do C - D. You'd probably be best to ask another math teacher though.

Math is not my strong point at all but I wondered if you have asked your instructor if he could explain his logic since you don't see it.

Oh yeah I did and she insists that if you subtract D from C it is D-C and refuses to discuss, which is like saying subtracting 8 from 10 is 8 -10, when it really is 10-8 (C-D)

so I asked here in a neutral place (and a couple others, and every human I know in person) to make sure I wasnt insane before I went to college deans with my problem.
